Sterling Sound is a leading sound design, television, radio and music production facility based in the heart of the greater Johannesburg area in Gauteng, South Africa. As much as our focus is on producing excellent audio for our clients, our mission is also to create a warm and welcoming creative environment, whether it be with our hard-working cappuccino machine, Granny Pat’s legendary lunches, our sun-soaked outdoor café area or the sweet treats that keep sessions alive.
The studio boasts a history of consistently producing award-winning work, taking top honours at Cannes, D&AD (Yellow Pencil in 2016 & 2012), the Loeries, the CLIO Awards, Promax the LIAs and others. Our Sound Design craft awards are a particular source of pride, as we believe they reflect the true abilities of an audio post-production studio. We are passionate about creatively exploring the possibilities of all things audio-related, finding ways to tackle and achieve the seemingly impossible.
We also offer ISDN and Source Connect link-ups (domestic and international).
STERLING SOUND @ THE UPSTAIRS LUDUS
In March 2015, we opened an independent satellite studio within the Upstairs Ludus post-production facility located in Hurlingham Office Park, allowing us to facilitate audio sessions in the same physical space as grading, editing and VFX for maximum efficiency. This studio also offers radio production services and Source Connect link-ups for remote recordings.
On the music production side, Sterling Sound (in collaboration with Kurt Slabbert from Bluenoise Productions) has composed music for numerous television and radio commercials. Our work has featured in campaigns like Virgin Atlantic, Sun International, Soft ‘n Free, 5FM, Cell C, Nedbank, First For Women, DStv, Revlon, Pick ‘n Pay, OUTsurance, SABC, Albany and others.
Not limiting our creative abilities to the world of advertising, we have also worked with professional local recording artists like Lloyd Cwele, Daniel Baron, Gang of Instrumentals, Ntsiki, Emmanuel Castis and many others.
