Recognised industry-wide as one of South Africa's leading sound designers, Lorens is known for his creative drive and attention to detail when it comes to anything sound-related. Besides judging audio internationally for the CLIO Awards and locally for the Loeries, he has won numerous awards at Cannes and the Loeries (among others) and is also an awarded member of D&AD (Yellow Pencils in 2016 and 2012 for sound design).
Lorens’ not-so-secret passion, however, is music composition, and he has produced a large number of jingles and commercial tracks.
Born and bred in Durban, lived and worked in Hong Kong and now settled in Johannesburg with his wife and two boys. Experienced locally and internationally in sound design, music production and studio management, as well as being an accomplished singer/songwriter.
Sean's recent work includes final mix on Afrikaans drama series Geraamtes In Die Kas (SABC2), as well as brand work with Nedbank, Cadbury, M-Net, CNA, SABC, Standard Bank, Carte Blanche and Bidvest, among others. Passionate about all things creative.
KURT SLABBERT // BLUENOISE PRODUCTIONS
Having spent the past 15 years immersed in the vibrant local music industry, Bluenoise Productions’ Kurt Slabbert is ready and waiting to take your campaign to the next level with original music production. He has honed his musical skills as a professional guitarist on the South African music scene, as well as serving as musical director for a number of local artists and groups (Daniel Baron, Lloyd Cele, Gang of Instrumentals, Emmanuel Castis, Afrique, 8th Avenue, Atmospheric, Bride of War, Kusasa).
Bluenoise Productions has worked in close partnership with Sterling Sound since 2003, following Kurt’s return from studying music and production at London’s famed Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (previously known as the Guitar Institute).
Working in collaboration with Lorens, he has since been composing, recording and producing original music tracks for radio and television from Sterling’s Studio 3.
We believe that Sterling’s close partnership with Kurt and Bluenoise Productions allows us to deliver a well-rounded, creative, and memorable product, as well as access to the professional expertise and gear needed to create a wide range of musical styles.
With a background in journalism, radio, public relations, marketing and copywriting, Sam is fully equipped to deal with just about anything you can throw at her.
In her role as Sterling's production manager, she is on the front line to assist with bookings, accounts, production services and the occasional odd request.
Sterling Sound is nothing without its wonderful hospitality team – making our clients smile since the studio first opened its doors.
Sisikazi is always on hand to welcome clients with a sparkling smile and a much-needed cup of coffee, and also works hard to keep the studio in tip-top condition.
On the catering side of things, Granny Pat (or GP, as she is fondly known) conjures up the delicious legendary lunches that always have people coming back for more, even during the most hectic of sessions.
Finally, Peter is our man on the ground when it comes to maintenance, security and landscaping.
